- PERSONAL INFORMATION
I¨m currently Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the Computer Science and Systems Department of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University.
I¨m member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers IEEE , the International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR), the Asociación Española de Reconocimiento de Formas y Análisis de Imágenes (AERFAI) and the Asociación Española para la Inteligencia Artificial (AEPIA).
My current research interests are in Autonomous Systems, Knowledge-Based Systems, Active Vision, Visual Learning, Scene Analysis, Mobile Robotics and Interactive Robotic Systems, that is robots that interact with people. We worked in a project whose goal is the development of a Knowledge Based Computer Vision System called SVEX. This system can be adapted to a variety of environments and actually is useful to applications at pixel and segment levels.i Later we developed DESEO, a system capable to detect, track and identify people in real-time using a binocular motorized robotic head and C'80 DSP based boards. Actually we are developing ELDI, a interactive mobile robot for the Museo de la Ciencia de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Actually I teach undergraduate courses in Reconocimiento de Formas and Inteligencia Artificial and also Postgraduate Courses in the Doctorate Program Sistemas Inteligentes y Aplicaciones Numericas en Ingenieria
